Programs and services available are preschool, child care, Early Head Start, child care resource and referral, therapy services-onsite and outpatient, mailing, adaptive and general home remodeling, industrial work, job placement, adult day and residential services and janitorial services, and personal care services. The Volunteer Activities Committee assists is developing and carrying out programming that connects volunteers with the needs of the community, providing service to all organizations that utilize volunteers.

The Literacy Coalition meets an unfulfilled need in our community, that of teaching adult non-readers to read through a personal one-to-one tutoring relationship. The program creates an opportunity for self-improvement for individuals who cannot fit into existing programs because of family responsibilities, job commitments, or personal limitations.

Project Access

Programs: Medical Assistance, Medication Assistance, Diabetes Navigation

The mission of Project Access is to provide access to healthcare services to residents of Howard County. Project Access also provides Diabetes Navigation to any patient of a local healthcare provider, regardless of county of residence.

After enrollment, Project Access clients are assigned a primary care home. Physicians donate their services, at no cost to the client. If required, hospitalization is provided free to the client, with both local hospitals actively supporting and participating in this program. Over 2,000 individuals and $8.6 million dollars worth of health services have been documented as being donated since this program began in September 2004.

Samaritan Caregivers is a coalition of religious congregations, community leaders and trained volunteers matched with individuals or families in Howard County. Their purpose is to improve or maintain the social and functional environment of persons who are frail, elderly or living with disabilities, and their significant others, without regard to religious affiliation.
