Letter Carrier Food Drive Looking for Volunteers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kokomo, IN, April 21, 2015/Press Release/ -- The United States Postal Service, National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO, and United Way of Howard County are working together to help fill our local food pantries. On Saturday, May 9, our local letter carriers will be picking up nonperishable food items like canned meats, soup, vegetables, juices, pasta, cereal and rice.
Volunteers are needed to make this project a success. This is a great opportunity for families, individuals, organizations, and workplaces.
There are several ways to volunteer:
1. Help us get the word out the week before on May 4-8! Volunteers are needed to help canvass neighborhoods the week before the drive and pass out reminder cards and donation bags for residents to fill. Reminder cards and donation bags are available for pick up at 2-1-1, 210 W. Walnut.
2. Walkers, sorters and floaters are needed May 9. On Saturday, May 9, help is needed to get the food picked up, sorted and off to the pantries.
3. How to help? Dial 2-1-1!
