Kokomo, IN, July 27, 2015/Press Release/ -- For the 16th year, the S.C.H.O.O.L supplies program, a community service program of the Howard-Tipton Counties Central Labor Council and other area unions and community partners, will take some financial burden off the minds of school parents across the county.
S.C.H.O.O.L. supplies is a partnership between local unions, the Salvation Army, Kokomo Urban Outreach and United Way of Howard County. The purpose of the program is to address the need for school supplies for less fortunate families. Last year, children from every school district in the county benefited from the program. Unions participate by contributing money or having shoe/gate collections and providing volunteers.

The program has an income limit based on family size/income and distribution of the items is on a first come first served basis. People needing supplies must bring in proof of Howard County residence, identification for all household members and verification of income and expenses for the last 30 days. This includes assistance in the form of loans and payments made on behalf of the family by family and friends. Proof of public assistance can help speed the application process.

Items will be distributed from UAW 685, 929 E. Hoffer. The dates for distribution are as follows: last names beginning with the letters F-K on Monday, August 2, letters L-R on Tuesday, August 3, letters S-Z on Wednesday, August 4 and letters A-E on Thursday, August 5. Each day, there are two distribution times: 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help screen recipients and bags items.
