United Way Announces Jenni Adams of FCA and UAW 1166 the UW Volunteer of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kokomo, IN, March 17, 2016/Press Release/ -- United Way of Howard County recognized Jenni Adams as the 2016 Indiana Association of United Way’s Volunteer of the Year that took place on March 17 at United Way State Leaders Conference in Indianapolis. This award honors individuals that have made a major impact in their communities.

Like many United Way stories, Jenni Adams’ was a tough one. Jenni and her young sons were victims of domestic violence that left them homeless and living in her car.
As Jenni says, “because of United Way services, I was able to get back on my feet,” and this is the beginning of a different story. Jenni did get back on her feet and then, her employer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and UAW 1166 asked her to be a loaned associate.
She agreed, “because what happened weighed so heavily on her heart.”

Jenni reluctantly began telling her brave story and it went on to empowered, inspired and informed people she met while giving her UW presentations.

“This story with a silver-lining not only opened doors for victims but our soft-spoken Jenni raised $1 million for United Way of Howard County in the past five years. She is the United Way ambassador that you want to follow into a room. Wherever Jenni goes, she takes United Way and if you don’t know us, you will. She’s our biggest fan, our loudest advocate, our mightiest volunteer and a constant reminder that influencing the condition of ALL starts with reaching out a hand to ONE,” said Abbie Smith, President of United Way of Howard County.

Jenni has two sons and works as a forklift driver at FCA's Kokomo Casting Plant in Kokomo Indiana. She is also a proud member of UAW 1166.

Next month Jenni is getting married and in lieu of gifts, her and her future husband asked for guests to make small monetary donations  to United Way of Howard County "because they had so many blessings and would like to bless others." Thank you Jenni and Stan, again.
