Free Tax Prep is a network of drop off locations with one tax preparation site (United Way of Howard County) that offers free tax preparation to individuals and families with a combined household income of $60,000 or less. This program, in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), is designed to ensure that residents receive all the tax credits and deductions for which they are eligible. Volunteers are certified by the IRS to provide free, basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.

Last year 1,958 tax returns were filed for neighbors making an average of $16,739, keeping more of their hard-earned dollars in their pockets. Tax preparers are trained by the IRS and work as volunteers greeting, intaking, interviewing and preparing taxes. Training can be done at home at your leisure at your own computer.
