Samaritan Caregivers helps seniors stay in their homes. People 65 and over still living at home in Howard County, Indiana, are eligible for free help from Samaritan Caregivers volunteers.
Drivers from now until the end of April to provide transportation, mostly to medical appointments until so many of our snow bird drivers return in May. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, dependable vehicle with interest in helping aging adults. Wide variety of days/times available; different every week; ability to review options and sign up online once approved as a volunteer.
People with a push mower, willing to mow one or more yards during the entire mowing season whenever they mow their own lawn. Would need to have a vehicle to transport their mower. Location and size of lawns vary significantly. Volunteer would be able to review a list and select the ones most convenient to them.
People who enjoys playing bingo or Wii to assist staff with monthly activities for aging adults at Friendship Haven or Brentwood Green apartments. Time committment approximately 2 hours/month and could be more if interested in helping with more than one group. Must be patient and enjoy interacting with people with issues of aging. Ongoing opportunity.
Prospective volunteers may sign up at Samaritan Caregivers | Senior Citizen Assistance Services If a particular field on the sign-up form do not apply, just skip that section. We conduct a background check on all volunteers prior to initiating their involvement. A wide variety of additional opportunities exist. We suggest completing the application online & discussing specific options more fully in a meeting with the volunteer coordinator.
